This panel will highlight the experiences of several educators managing school-specific grids for use in the K-12 classroom. Biome4Kids, MissionV, Islands of Enlightenment are self- or school-managed OpenSim grids used for quests, learning activities, and student building. edMondo is a nationally hosted but school specific grid in Italy. Panelists will cover the following questions specifically "What makes an effective virtual world learning activity?" "What makes young students excited to be in virtual worlds?" "What are the advantages and how does one effectively manage a school-specific grid?" “How do you get other educators to engage in virtual worlds teaching?" Questions from the audience will be taken as well.
